Seed Stories : Sowing Seeds, Growing Futures

Seed Stories: Sowing Seeds, Growing Futures is a poetic documentary born from a profound exploration of biodiversity, cultural memory, and ecological resilience. Rooted in the interdisciplinary project Seed Stories, the film foregrounds seeds as vessels of soft power—carriers of history, identity, and resistance.

Conceptualised and curated by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Pune in collaboration with Abhijit Patil, the project brought together farmers, artists, seed savers, activists, and scholars into a rare, fertile dialogue. The exhibition, curated by Abhijit Patil, transformed the gallery into a shared, inclusive space that honoured indigenous knowledge and lived experience, particularly that of farmers who were welcomed with deep gratitude and dignity. In doing so, it disrupted traditional art-world hierarchies and reframed the politics of curation and participation. The documentary captures intimate conversations and collective moments of reflection, revealing the emotional and intellectual depth of this unique collaboration.

For the filmmakers – Deeksha Ketkar and Nachiket Guttikar – this was more than a cinematic endeavour—it was a lived encounter with stories of care, survival, and transformation. Seed Stories: Sowing Seeds, Growing Futures stands as a lyrical testament to the possibilities that emerge when diverse worlds listen, witness, and grow together.
